What we mean by “historical” and “analytical”

Our coverage describes what has already happened in the market and attempts to explain it in context. We do not forecast future prices, recommend buying or selling specific cards or products, or offer opinions on what a reader should do with their money or collection.

Data sources

Where we cite price data, we identify the underlying source (e.g., TCGplayer mid-market closes, eBay sold listings, PSA / CGC / BGS population reports). For Gloomberg’s own indices, we describe the methodology — basket composition, reconstitution cadence, and weighting — in the relevant article and on this page.

Index methodology

The Vintage 100, Modern Singles, Vintage Sealed, Modern Sealed, WOTC Basket, and Modern Slab Premium are constructed and maintained by Gloomberg’s editorial team. Baskets are reconstituted at announced cadences; weighting is equal unless otherwise noted; deltas are computed from period-end closes against the previous period’s close.

Editorial independence

Gloomberg’s editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationships. Sponsored content, when present, is clearly marked. Affiliate links, when used, are clearly disclosed at the point of linking and do not influence editorial coverage.
